Thankful that we will always have her words. What an amazing woman. Thanks for posting this.
I'm not sure if I first learned of Maya Angelou from Oprah or NPR. I'm glad I did. I like the quote about the dust that will rise. Was that part of a poem?
Bill, link to the poem "Still I Rise" in its entirety: http://www.poets.org/poetsorg/poem/still-i-rise
jayne: it came across Twitter as I was posting to my TV station account. Couldn't not print some of her many amazing pronouncements.
Thank you for this, especially those wonderful quotes. Godspeed, Maya! You were one of a kind. :-)
DJan, there is so much out there today on her. I can hardly believe her bio, "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings" came out in 1969.
Somehow I just thought she'd always be there. I guess she will, given all the lovely words she has left us.
Bliss, great writers are always there, yes! Like your new profile foto. Very chic. :)
It is sad that it took her passing to be exposed to so many people. We are much poorer without her.
Pat, but the words live on!
