Birthday

Today is my birthday.  I'm being taken to lunch.  I'm being taken to dinner.  Both very nice restaurants; gifts from friends and my husband.

I gifted myself yesterday with a manicure, pedicure and hot stone massage.  It was heaven and took the considerable edge off having yet another birthday.

 Gina's Nasturtiums by Carson Pritchard

The massage was the best part.  It left me feeling healed, inside and out.  My arthritis, achey muscles and fatigue were gone.  I felt the toxins leave my body.  The lemon, lavendar and tangerine oils revitalized me and the hot stones on the obvious knots eased my soreness.

I need to do this more often; baby myself, treat my body better.  Relieve my tension and my mind.  The last time I made a ritual of self healing was through polarity therapy which I loved.  But perhaps right now massage is the way to go.  Winter is coming;  the snow, ice and wind  bends me, dries my skin and brutalizes my joints. Perhaps I can stave off those elemental reactions.

I would tell you I feel reflective but my husband and I have huge changes upcoming and I'm saving reflections for them. I will need another massage once we've made it through the next five weeks. I'm superstitious or I'd tell you now.

It's all good.

Well, I hope the self healing ritual works. I think it will if you think it will.

Yep. Those were the days when tricks were part of trick or treat.

Happy Birthday! My SIL took me for a manicure, pedicure and hot rock thing on my last birthday. Never had any of those before. I didn't think I would be able to walk out, my legs were so relaxed.

My next birthday coming up is a big one...60, starting a new decade.

hope you get the result you want, are where you want to be 5 weeks from now.

So the hot stones help ?

I've been told I am for sure a candidate for massages due to my old achey bones. You make it sound define.

Happy Birthday to You ...

Many happy returns! They come round a little too fast these days. I love a little pampering frankly but it happens all too rarely. Good luck with the secret mission!

Happy Birthday to you . . .

Thanks for reminding me that I have a gift card from my daughter to a salon with a massage center. What am I waiting for?

Thank you ladies. I've just retu kind of rned from a really nice dinner at one of our favorite restaurants. I had seafood...kind of a bouillabaisse stew with a tomato base, scallops, shrimp, mussels, salmon, spinach, fresh herbs, onion, chopped tomatoes. Folded in was a kind of creamy herby aspic with rice in it. We had salad, a champagne cocktail and a mojito for a before-dinner drink. It was a lovely evening. I heard from both sons, one who'll be home from Europe this Wednesday and one who will be home for Christmas mid-December

Belated happy birthday. I am here in GA on a 17 day visit, trying to do some caring things for my 85-year-old mother. I've been through tremendous changes in the last six months, including the end of my 21-year job as a forensic nurse with the city and county of San Francisco, thans to budget cuts.

I have had some special time here with my friend of 50 years. Joyfully, his daughter is a massage therapist and I had the best deep tissue massage of my life on Tuesday. I am going again before I leave. What a gift to myself!

Happy late birthday!

I have a wonderful massage therapist - I started seeing her a few years ago in a time of immense stress, and each visit, I book the next - about 5/6 weeks ahead. Its a great way to take care of yourself - certainly you should make it a habit!
