Positive Energy

Apple Blossoms by Joelle

I have been sick with a virus since Tuesday night. My husband has been ill since Sunday night. We have been utterly miserable...but miserable together, which is comforting in its way.

Time to get some positive energy back before we wither away or he de-hydrates! So here goes:

My girlfriend painted this last year. I've been holding my breath for Spring so I could post it. I love it; it's fresh and happy. Makes me feel great.

The weather is warm and sunny today. I believe it will hit 50. That is huge! The snow is receding and we have most of our lawn back. So pleased with that.

I've lost 8 lbs this week. I cannot eat and am drinking clear liquids. It's not unlike when you come out of the hospital. This is the upside of the flu. My body looks better and that is a major plus!

Also, I've had more sleep than I can remember this week. That is also a biggie. I don't sleep well and am usually sleep-deprived. Can't quarrel with that.

I figure, when I'm back to normal, I'll be in better shape: slimmer, more rested and figuring out how to maintain both.

Man, the bugs this year have been brutal! My daughters have had a terrible time. We, knock on wood, have not caught anything too bad, but I remember a two-year period where I caught everything. In fact one day I abandoned my truck in the parking lot because it got stuck in the snow, and walked to our condo, because I just was too sick to deal with it. I figured someone would light a fire under the people responsible for plowing when they couldn't get out. It worked, the guy who always seemed to be on "vacation" after big snow storms was on my doorstep in no time. Even plowed my walk!

Anyway, way more info than you need right now! Hope you feel better very soon. That picture/painting is just beautiful. A good one to frame and put on the wall.

Hope you feel better soon! Don't push yourself too much for awhile even after the flu has dissipated. I've found the after-flu experience sometimes worse than the muzzy, feverish, sleepy period of the peak illness.

I can't WAIT for true spring to begin, but the increased light has sure perked up my mood. I love your flower pictures - they stand in as promises for the good, warm, juicy days to come (soon).

Nasty virus this year. This sounds like a re-play of how things were in this house one or two weeks ago. Unfortunately, I didn't lose eight pounds in the process ;-(

Lovely painting.

Wishing you lots of spring energy, california girl.

Oh dear, that sounds just awful. I don't know how we've managed to avoid such things this winter, but I'm grateful.

Joelle is just remarkable. The apple blossoms are stunning, what colors and richness. Wow.

How lovely of you to post that image of beauty in your state of misery!

Though it seems fairly extreme as a weight loss plan, I do think there are always benefits to coming down with a cold or the flu - if you have the common sense to STOP and REST (as you have). Here in DC, people ignore their bodies' urgent requests to slow down. I think it ages them and isn't great for their immune systems.

A short fast is a cure for almost everything. Clear liquids? Always a good idea. Sleep and rest and time to have weird dreams? Extraordinarily therapeutic.

Get well soon!

So sorry you were sick this week, but glad you are feeling better (AND lost 8lbs!). Here is another positive: Your "following" feature is working! Woo hoo! I was most excited to find yours in my updates! Keep on getting better!

Ladies: you are all so sweet and nice to wish me well. I am, in fact, much better this morning. Yea! My husband is still draggin' his ass but, you know men! I plan to hit the gym and the grocery and make a healthy Mediterranean meal for dinner using a cool cookbook my husband purchased on V-Day. (I bought him chocolates & wine and he bought me a cookbook :)

Well with that beautiful painting shared with us all, and your positive attitude toward the rest and weight loss, it sounds like you're on the road to recovery! Slow and steady, though ...

Minka: back in one piece thank you!

Joanne: my positive attitude is assisted greatly by the weight loss!

I hear ya.....Tues it hit me, first time in 1 yr 3 months to be exact. Didn't have my usual herbs to keep it away, so went the water, tea and a few aspirin. Feeling better today and the head isn't ready to explode anymore.

Glad to hear all is well.

Although not the best way, it's good to sleep and sweat it off and get away from it all.

Cheers!

Welcome WNC! Thank you for checking out the blog. I'll visit yours soon.

CM: You are a sweetie. I guess this is all over the country. When my husband became ill, I didn't even know the flu or virus was going round. Out of season, ya know? However, I'm now hearing about people going to the hospital for IV drips and more. It's apparently very vicious. You recovered quickly. FINALLY saw your photo on your post too!
