Give A Gal A Chance

Not only do we have a presidential debate tonight, there's a debate about the debate process.  Candy Crowley is the chief political correspondent for CNN; highly respected and knowledgeable.     There's concern her agenda differs from that of the Commission on Presidential Debates and whether or not she'll break the rules.  (fingers crossed!)

Rules? What rules? I didn't know there were any rules associated with this election!

Well, as Tom Brokaw said today on one of the MSNBC shows (they all run together in my mind)

Candy Crowley will begin to lose control right after this starts. The candidates are not going to give up time to follow the rules of the debate. (this is a paraphrase but close)

Political news and events get treated like a sports game in the media. Men still dominate most of the sports so maybe this follows that crazy thinking. We just need more women elected to change things up.

I wonder, when did we ever watch a true campaign debate? Perhaps JFK and Nixon? Lincoln- Douglas, ah, I remember that one so well ...

I can't watch. I'll hear all about it in the morning anyway. I usually watch the PBS wrapup afterwards, but I'm just too nervous to watch tonight. You?

DJan: I am all over this.

Bill, hope you're watching.

Today, a guy knocked on my door, he was peddling meat and fish from his old pick-up truck. ... he wouldn't take no for my answer ... Totally a salesman with a shady product. He was a ringer for Mittens Romney.

My husband spent much of the debate remarking on Romney's "salesmanship" and how he was all about selling the product...himself. It was not meant to be flattering. I'll share your story with him.
