Are the faces and names
Of the wives and the sons
And the daughters.
"The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"
Gordon Lightfoot
Searching for images to match the final stanza of the song, I found these incredible photographs in a post written two days after the death of Osama bin Laden, "Standing in a Room of Mirrors" . She writes a particularly poignant post.

This is lovely. The Edmund Fitzgerald song gets played around here (Minnesota) every year in November and it's kind of stuck in our heads, but I had stopped paying attention until I saw your excerpt. Thanks.
I adore that song. The last stanza is one of the most perfect denouements in music.
I went to see Lightfoot perform about 20 years ago. I remember thinking how old he looked! I was still young, comparatively speaking. He was wonderful and his voice was strong.
