Republicans Ignore Women's Issues at Their Peril

Women on the airwaves are PISSED!  They are all over the moronic comments of Rep. Todd Akin (R: MO) yesterday regarding abortion for "legitimate rape" victims.

The good side of this?  Claire McCaskill, whom most pundits   said was in the "fight of her political career" now has a great chance to win re-election.                                                                                                      **********
Next we have Republican members of the House of Representatives carousing in the Sea of Galilee involving drinking and nudity:
A group of House Republicans were reprimanded last August for taking a late-night swim in Israel's Sea of Galilee that reportedly involved drinking and nudity. As Politico reported Sunday night, a number of Republican lawmakers on a fact-finding trip to Israel were involved in the incident, including Reps. Kevin Yoder (R-Kan.), Steve Southerland (R-Fla.), Ben Quayle (R-Ariz.), Tom Reed (R-N.Y.), Jeff Denham (R-Calif.) and Michael Grimm (R-N.Y.). Some spouses, family members, and staffers were also present. According to the report, Yoder took off his clothes before entering the reservoir, which the Bible cites as the place where Jesus walked on water.  Huffington Post 08-20-12
Gotta love those awesome junkets abroad.                                                                                         ********* The Donald weighs in on women in general "not getting what's going on" when it comes to President Obama. In his usual subtle delivery, he states his case:
Can you imagine being married to this guy?  Or working for him?  Every time I hear him speak and look at his hair, all I can think is "What a douchebag."  It's ever so much more descriptive than "asshole".
President Obama is currently giving an impromptu press conference as I type this.  His comment when asked his thoughts on Akin's "legitimate rape" response.
Obama: "We shouldn't have a bunch of politicians - a bunch of whom are men - making health-care decisions for women"  MSNBC  08/20/12
Yeah.  Tell that to Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney, Donald Trump and the GOP in general.
JUST RELEASED:  NBC/WSJ POLL:   Obama 56% vs Romney 39%  with WOMEN

I agree on Trump. I'm sure his photo is in Wikipedia next to "Douchebag."

So, good news for Claire.

And hopefully women will actually come out and vote this year.

Yeah what does the Donald know about popularity? If it was based on ego Donald would win. So Mr. workout six-pack guy from Wisconsin is not helping in the looks department?

DJan he's still staying in. It will be awesome if he lasts because it is another great distraction for the Romney campaign.

Jayne, now I'll have to look up the stats on who comprises the majority voting bloc.

Bill, there's an hilarious news video of Trump complaining that Obama has never sought his advice.

Priceless.

Sooner or later every A-hole produces stinky hot wind! It helps to identify them.

Oh dear.... that wasn't too lady like of me now was it?

California Girl said...

Judy, it would seem the GOP has a corner on "hot stinky wind" right now and I hope it keeps on coming right through the election!

All the comments above seem to indicate that conservatives "hate" women and are waging a war against them. I am a woman - I see things totally different and no matter what I believe, never resort to name calling - which flies of the tongue of liberals! The so-called war on women by conservatives is being fought against abortion - the killing and slaughter of innocent little girls. Shouldn't you all be fighting for these little girls who will never have a chance at life instead of securing contraception - which is readily available? Democrats, including Obama, have voted to let babies of botched abortions (babies alive) not be given treatment and let die. Where is the "war" to save these little girls? Kelley

Kelley, thank you for visiting my blog and for leaving a comment. I respect your right to feel the way you do. I simply do not agree with it. I was once in a position of having to decide whether or not to have an abortion and I agonized for weeks over it. I lost the baby and I thanked God I didn't have to have the abortion. It was, nonetheless, a heartbreaking experience.

To be raped and impregnated is a consequence I cannot, personally, accept. To carry the baby of a rapist is inconceivable. It boggles my mind.

I don't believe in abortion as contraception. However, I also don't believe in having a child you are in no position to raise because you're unsuitable in so many ways... drug addict, alcoholism, abuse come to mind.

25% of the people below the poverty line are children. It's a disgrace and it reflects on our country. If we can't adequately feed, clothe and house our children as a nation, how can we expect inadequately prepared, inadequately raised, inadequately educated people to do the same on their own?

Poverty and inconvenience are not reasons to abort.

California Girl said...

Kelley, do you consider carrying the baby of a rapist inconvenient?

As incredibly, incredibly hard as it would be to carry, the child is innocent.
