Respite from the Heat

Mountain Ridge of Bridal Veil Falls
12 x 16 oil      St. Germain

In case you haven't heard, we are having a MAJOR heat wave along the East Coast.  It's been in the 90-100+ degree temps, depending on where you live and it's lasting all week.  Anything I can do to trick my mind to stay cool is helpful.

This beautiful oil painting is by Jeanette St. Germain, an artist blogger whose work I enjoy and who gave me permission to post this. She was recently in Yosemite, painting the beauty around her.  This is Bridal Veil.  Doesn't it look cool and refreshing?  aaaaaahhhh...

Check out more of her work on her blog.

Yes, indeed it is beautiful. We have the hottest weather of the season here on the West Coast, and it's expected to break records for the next couple of days, with a cool-down by the weekend (we hope). I've been watching and commiserating with all on the East Coast.

Seems we're never happy. I'm here freezing, youre their boiling and in 3 months we'll be complaining again about the cold and the heat only all the wrong way round! Stay cool!

Djan: I haven't been paying attention to the "left coast" because it's so miserable here. What are the temps this summer?

Baino: ain't it the truth.

Been there! It's gorgeous! I love her vision of it...excellent work.

It's been in the mid-90's here, too, going on 2 weeks. And the A/C is not working properly in my van. I'm getting it recharged on Friday...just in time for the weather break.

Gorgeous, cool painting! Thanks for the linkage. I sympathize with you, cher, and hope you get a cool front, soon. Meanwhile, make up a batch of frozen Margaritas and find a pool! Cheers!

Sorry, sorry, when you live on the East Coast -the worst is the humidity! Remember to drink plenty:) Thank you for posting my painting!

Don't envy you the humidity, which I assume goes along with the heat. Got off the plane in Nice yesterday and was smacked in the face with some of that - after Calgary's cool weather it's a shock, so I can sympathize somewhat with your climate woes.

I don't know how people function in that kind of weather, really, so just the fact that you made it to the computer to post this was commendable!

Susan: Everyone should see Yosemite. It is breathtaking. I remember the heat of the mid-west from visiting Mom's family in Indpls and from living in Kentucky. Whew! It was hotter in central Virginia, tho'. I spent most of the 1980s in Richmond and bore two summer babies and worked the entire time and it was the hottest I've ever been.

Mama Zen: Baby Puppy would love Yosemite. You too.

Marguerite: just read your 4th post. Lafayette is always rockin' isn't it? your latest cold salad recipe sounds refreshing.

Jeanette: you are welcome and thanks again. you can see it is receiving good props.

Deborah: How are you? Back in France. If I knew how to make Pepe Le Pew noises, I would :) I'll have to visit your blog.

What a lovely painting....Yosemite is one of California's most beautiful spots.

The weather and the temperatures in the San Francisco area have been just perfect - not too hot and not too cold.

RN: you are lucky to enjoy the temperate climate. I love the city so much and should have moved there when I was young and it was affordable! It is a cool painting. It grabs you and makes you feel good.
