Oil Rig Sinks in the Gulf of Mexico

NEW ORLEANS — The oil rig 50 miles off the southeast coast of Louisiana where an explosion occurred Tuesday night has collapsed into the Gulf of Mexico, a Coast Guard official said.“We have multiple vessels on scene — all response vessels — and they are on scene there to help to mitigate the effects of the pollution,” Petty Officer Atkeson said in a telephone interview. He added that it was not clear how much oil had spilled into the ocean.
Nor was it immediately clear what, if any, environmental implications the rig’s collapse would have.

We should all probably invest in Proctor&Gamble. For sure they will be using a lot of Dawn to try and save all those poor unfortunate birds and other creatures that will be covered in the horrible crude oil.

I read about this. Our poor planet. No wonder we're getting all these earthquakes. It's a pissed off Mother Earth blowing her top!

ReplyDeleteSuch a tragedy, that no doubt could have been avoided. But, accidents do happen, and my heart goes out to the eleven crew member's families who are presumed to have died on the rig floor, during the explosion. So horrible, not to mention the environmental fall out!
